Art By Crim was formed in 1991 by James and Katherine Crim in an effort to market Katherine's original watercolors and to provide the highest quality decorative custom framing. As the popularity of their business grew, so did the demand for additional artwork. James took a bold new approach and decided to handle only original pieces of art. He wanted the art and framing to be original and one of a kind in every aspect. Many of the frames are designed for a particular piece of art and can only be created at Art by Crim. Not only does Art by Crim handle individual clientelle, they are also well-versed in large scale corporate accounts. His photography, photo-editing & printing capabilities allow tailored imaging for any venue.
Although focussing on Katherine's works, the gallery hosts other artists as well. Some are local, some are national, but all pieces are original watercolors, acrylics, oil or a form of original printmaking.
The latest and perhaps most exciting addition to Art by Crim is our giclee printer and its capabilities. All older limited edition prints were not lightfast and faded. That is why we refused to make prints...until now! These 80 year guaranteed inks and varied papers/canvas surfaces create amazing possibilities. We have decided to make limited edition giclee's with variable sizes. This means we can print whatever size on whatever surface and hand-embellish to fit any color scheme...total customization!
Commissions are handled through the gallery, which include portraits of your home, family or pets. House portraits are Katherine's specialty! Portraits may be done in your choice of pastel, acrylic, watercolor or pencil. Landscapes, florals or anything special to you can be professionally painted, matted and framed at Art By Crim.
James and Katherine also specialize in custom wall murals and decorative faux finishes in your home. Summers in particular are spent on location as the husband- wife team transform any space into a work of art.
One of the many features that sets Art By Crim apart from other galleries is the passion James and Katherine have for their business and their customers. They make many house calls, sometimes to deliver or hang a framed pieces of art, and often, just to reassure a customer that they made the right choice.
James and Katherine, having Bachelor of Arts degrees, share a love for the arts. Art is their profession, their hobby and their recreation. They enjoy traveling around the country searching for new artists and attending seminars and art expos. They continually provide their customers with the newest and best in the field of art.
